Árō, the debut restaurant by Chef Johanne Siy, opened at 15 Mohamed Sultan Road on 25 September 2026, marking a new chapter in a bold culinary journey. The name draws from two words: in Latin, arō means to plough, till, or cultivate; in Johanne's hometown dialect, áro means love. Together, they form what she calls a "labour of love" — not anchored to any single nationality, cuisine, or geography, but expressing the full arc of her lived experience through what she terms "Creator's Cuisine."

At Árō, the ingredient is the seed-idea and orchestrator. Through a 12-serving tasting menu ($268++ per person), Johanne draws attention not only to what is on the plate, but also to the people, places and craftsmanship behind it. That philosophy extends to ingredients Johanne believes deserve a greater place on the world stage. While rooted in distinct places and traditions, the dishes are not anchored to a particular nationality, cuisine or geography. Instead, they draw from the people, places, ideas and encounters that have shaped Johanne’s journey.

While Árō begins with Johanne’s own journey, it is ultimately about the many people who have shaped it. Through ingredients, craftsmanship and community, the restaurant seeks to bring diners closer to the farmers, producers and artisans behind what they consume, creating a space where their stories can meet at the same table.
