Whether you’re a die-hard F1 fan or just in it for the excitement, when it comes to the Singapore Grand Prix - there's something in it for everyone. Ahead of the F1 season, our team has come together to share a few of our favourite easy-to-make snacks and light bites that are perfect for enjoying while watching the high-speed action.
Bibigo Pork & Vegetable Mini Wontons
My go-to snack in front of the TV is Bibigo Pork & Vegetable Mini Wontons. These little bites are incredibly simple and fuss-free. Whether I boil them or pop them into the air fryer, they always turn out delicious. The bite-sized wontons are so addictive, and such a great snack to enjoy while watching F1. To savour these wantons, I whip up a quick and tasty dipping sauce. It’s a mix of soy sauce, water, fine chilli powder, la yu (chilli oil), and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Nachos
Nachos are the ultimate game-day or movie night snack! They're simple to customise with your favourite toppings, making them a fun and interactive snack. Plus, the combination of crispy chips, melted cheese, and fresh ingredients is undeniably delicious and ideal for sharing while enjoying the entertainment like F1. The best part about it is that you can elevate your nachos with a variety of toppings like, sour cream, jalapeños, black olives, and even pulled pork or grilled chicken.

Takoyaki
Takoyaki has got to be one of the most exciting food to have at a gathering. Once you get the hang of it, making this dish is easy, and you can be creative with the toppings. Options like bacon, ham with cheese, shrimps, kimchi, corn, or crab sticks can be easily found at home. It’s also a fun activity to do together during a gathering!

Nian Gao Waffles with Ice Cream
(From left to right: Osmanthus Oolong, Strawberry Chia Seeds, Black Sesame Soy Milk, Acai Banana)
My go-to TV snack for watching F1 is an assortment of ice cream paired with Nian Gao waffles, and I like to get both from Better Scoop. Each flavour of ice cream is unique, with just the right amount of sweetness, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. The Nian Gao waffles have a delightful chewiness that pairs perfectly with the ice cream, creating the ideal combination. This snack is not only great for sharing with friends and family, but also perfect for cooling down in the hot weather and from the excitement of the race!

Fried Spicy Chicken Sandwich
My go-to snack when watching something on the TV is this spicy chicken patty. It's juicy and crispy even when cooked in an air fryer. I get the New Multi fried boneless spicy chicken thigh from Sheng Siong but it's also available on Fairprice, Lazada, and Shopee. I usually pair it with wholemeal bread, garlic mayonnaise and some lettuce for freshness. These pairings can definitely be elevated as desired, e.g. the use of shokupan for the bread, addition of sliced pickles, and even using your own favourite sauces. It’s really easy to make and reminds me of my favourite menu item from McDonald’s – the McSpicy. I could probably go through 3 sandwiches in one sitting especially if it’s a long sporting event or a movie marathon.

Tanghulu
Tanghulu is a refreshing treat, ideal for sharing while catching the exciting F1 race! The process of making it is quick and simple, with the entire treat being ready within 15 minutes, which is perfect for spontaneous gatherings or a quick indulgence. One of the most enjoyable aspects of Tanghulu is the satisfying crunch of the hard sugar coating, which also enhances the sweetness of the fruit, bringing out the natural flavours. You can also get creative and mix in all sorts of fruits like oranges, strawberries, or blueberries. The possibilities are endless, making the experience even more fun and interesting!

Ingredients
- 12 seedless grapes (or any other fruit)
- 1 cup plain granulated sugar
- ½ cup water
- Ice
- Bamboo skewers
How to make it
- Wash the grapes thoroughly and pat them completely dry. Ensuring the grapes are dry is crucial for the sugar syrup to adhere properly.
- Carefully thread the grapes onto bamboo skewers, leaving a bit of space between each grape. Set them aside.
- In a medium-sized pot, combine the granulated sugar and water. Heat the mixture over medium heat without stirring. Allow it to come to a boil. Continue cooking until the sugar reaches a temperature of 150°C or until it becomes golden and caramelizes. This should take about 10 minutes. Be careful not to burn the sugar.
- Once the sugar syrup is ready, carefully dip each skewer of grapes into the hot syrup, coating them evenly.
- Immediately after coating the grapes, dip them into a bowl of ice water for a few seconds. This helps the sugar syrup harden and creates a crunchy coating.
- After dipping in ice water, place the skewers on a parchment-lined tray or plate.
Crackers with Wingstop-Inspired Ranch Sauce
Wingstop is a favourite of mine and so on the days where I'm really craving it, I like to make a cheat version of the sauce at home. Although not as rich and flavourful as the traditional Wingstop ranch, this homemade version is a much healthier version, lighter and less sinful! The sodium content is lower, and Greek yogurt is also high in protein. I recommend having it with Meiji crackers as they're slightly salted so it pairs well with the sauce.
