Ichigo Ichie at Claymore Connect

Ichigo Ichie Brings Renewed Experiences At Claymore Connect

Since it greeted its first guests in February 2020, Ichigo Ichie has been guided by the philosophy that every passing encounter is a precious moment that can never be repeated. This celebration of the transient is poignantly felt as the fine-dining kappo restaurant bids farewell to its first home to move to its second.

On 20 April 2024, Ichigo Ichie opened at Claymore Connect. Helmed by Chef Akane Eno and co-owned by the founders of beef specialist The Gyu Bar and one-Michelin-starred Sushi Kimura, the restaurant continues to feature authentic Japanese flavours interpreted through Chef Eno’s artistic sensibilities, driven by the seasons, and celebrating high-quality, exquisite ingredients. Embracing the ethos of its namesake – a Japanese proverb that translates to “one life, one moment” – the new space creates an intimate space for more meaningful moments of personal connection.

Like a home, the place is an expression of Chef Eno’s personal passions: art and food. Around the restaurant, guests would find art pieces and other fine Japanese crafts handpicked by Chef Akane Eno. Formerly an art history student who had dreams of being an art curator in her youth, she even brings pieces from her personal collection into this deeply personal yet welcomingly accessible space. Every art piece is handpicked for the personal significance and resonance it has for Chef Eno at the moment, aligning with the philosophy of Ichigo Ichie.

The interior design melds the gracefulness of traditional Japanese aesthetics with sleek modernity. Materials such as soft wood, polished marble, and textured slate in a neutral palette given accents of dark tones, further create a look of harmonious contrasts. Seating 12 at the main dining counter and six at the private dining room, the new restaurant also features a tea bar – the setting for future tea appreciation programmes.

The varied experiences offered in the different areas is akin to how one would experience the different spaces of a home. The main dining counter is a kitchen for close interactions with the chef, the private room a sanctuary for undisturbed enjoyment, and the tea bar for elegant moments shared over snacks and exquisite brews.
