At the risk of inviting a million side-eyes, we confess that thoughts of lunch start wandering in our mind from the moment we settle down at our desks. And when the meal is a pleasure, it becomes a highlight of our day.
Naturally, we have a whole host of options to drool over, and we’re delighted to share, because – after all, isn’t sharing caring?
THE MOST SCENIC LUNCH SPOTS
So that the eyes can “eat” too!
View from LeVeL33's Terrace
LeVeL33
If we’re talking about a view, LeVeL33 takes the cake when it comes to the cityscape. That glorious skyline of endless blue punctuated by a compelling mix of heritage and contemporary architecture – there's no other location that offers quite the same visual satisfaction. Fortunately, we can say the same for the food here too. The lunch set – your choice of a 2-course ($48++) or 3-course ($58++) – offers a delicious variety of starters, mains and desserts that showcase their unique ContemBrewery cuisine. It whets the appetite a little more to know that the restaurant is working towards greening itself up: for instance, all their napkins are compostable and their coasters, made from recycled car tires. In fact, their food options combine flavour and green options such as the delightful Spent Grain Pasta of the Day which features pasta made with spent grain – a beer byproduct; this allows the kitchen team to minimise waste, and – just as importantly – boosts flavour, texture and nutrition.
Bedrock Origin
Sail into the beautifully idyllic Bedrock Origin in Sentosa where sea breezes whet your appetite as much as the hand-picked ingredients grilled over its signature applewood fire. The sumptuous 3-course Set Lunch (from $42++) includes a choice of starters, mains and dessert. We’re especially enamoured with the Signature Bedrock Black Pepper Steak Rice Bowl highlighting tender petit Wagyu fillet, luscious pan-seared foie gras, grilled onions, pickled pumpkin, and soft-boiled egg atop fragrant beef drippings garlic butter rice. A 2-course is available for smaller appetites. If there’s a need to impress, the hidden Applewood private dining, a light-filled enclave with sliding panels, seat up to 18.

MIYOSHI
Beneath the waving palm trees and deep blue sky of Sentosa, stroll to the gorgeous heritage building that Miyoshi is housed in; then when you step in, immerse yourself in the cool, airy contemporary Japanese space, discreetly sectioned to showcase each of its three experiences. Their set lunches, from $32++, are available from Wednesdays to Sundays with a wonderfully varied selection of main courses from their signature ramens to the lavish Hida Wagyu & Satsuma Tenderloin Wagyu Donburi which features slices of the premium beef accompanied with foie gras, maitake mushrooms, uni, ikura and garlic Fat Rice.
THE MOST CONVENIENT LUNCH SPOTS
These places are easy to access, no matter if you drive, take a bus or a train. Better yet, the food is fabulous too!
For A Special Treat
Bedrock Bar & Grill
If you love steak, Bedrock Bar & Grill in Pan Pacific Serviced Residences Orchard (near 313 Somerset!) will be a familiar name, having served the finest steak cuts since 2008. Their set lunches, from $32++ for 2 courses and from $42++ for 3 courses, are a fabulous way of ensuring your intake of high-quality protein, especially when you need a more upscale place for a corporate lunch. We’re especially excited that two woodfired steak options are available: the Woodfired-Grilled Tenderloin would be our choice for a steak that is lean and tender, yet full of flavour. It’s accompanied by foie gras, potatoes, onions and a fabulous shallot sauce. Best of all, their set lunches are available daily.
Fireplace
For wood-fired meats and seafood in a more relaxed environment, Fireplace by Bedrock offers all this and more at the buzzing One Holland Village mall. Supported by its sister restaurant’s expertise, Fireplace offers natural ingredients grilled on an open fire for simple classic dishes that come together to create a sophisticated yet accessible dining experience. Fireplace offers a 2-course set lunch, from $34++, Mondays to Fridays (excluding public holidays) – but what we’re excited about here is the delectable Lamb Ribs, a full 300g grilled on an open fire with rosemary for that aromatic char, perfectly set off by the accompanying glazed carrots.
Rempapa's Weekday Set Lunch
Rempapa
There’s no better place to savour Singapore heritage cuisine than Rempapa: Chef Damian D’Silva, the grandpapa of heritage cuisine, allows no shortcuts in his kitchen. And the results show – especially in the rich, complex dishes of our childhood. The weekday set lunch, $48++ good for two, is a perfect example: it’s a Nasi Lemak Platter, offering two portions of meticulously cooked coconut jasmine rice, served with silver fish, cucumber, fried eggs, and homemade sambal. Diners can then choose two accompaniments from a selection, and we confess we’re drooling over the Signature Beef Cheek Rendang and the Hakka Fried Pork. The platter is paired with two starters – Sayur Lodeh and housemade achar; then finished with the diner’s choice of Rempapa’s Assorted Heritage Kuehs or Cheng Teng.
An Everyday Pleasure
Ginkyo
Want a little fun at lunch? Then hop on down to Ginkyo by Kinki: with its lively colourful bistro setting and creative contemporary Japanese favourites with global flavours, it’ll be a merry meal that’ll perk up the rest of your day. Their set lunch, from $22++, is a generous repast that includes a petite salad, miso soup and a mochi dessert in addition to the chosen main course. Seafood lovers should not pass go, and head straight for the Best of Toyosu Market Donburi which features fresh seafood airflown from Toyosu Market in Tokyo as well as caviar, negitoro and truffle on a bed of fluffy-sticky-chewy Niigata Koshii rice.

The Marmalade Pantry
At 25 years old this year, The Marmalade Pantry is practically an institution in Singapore. The homegrown bistro refreshed its culinary approach and its menu to reflect its growth and development, with over 10 different dishes offering brighter flavours with hints of Asian flavours as an ode to the region, which still bring a comforting sense of familiarity. Their All-Day Set Meal, $25++ for 2 courses with coffee and tea, offers a perfect snapshot of these delicious new dishes. The Chicken Burger has a simple name but is an absolute textural and flavour delight with crunchy chicken thigh, and tangy slaw, all drizzled with a spicy garlic soy and sandwiched between pillowy potato buns; and served with beet-pickled cauliflower. And of course it comes with crispy fries! If you want a sweet finish to the meal, their cupcakes and sliced cakes are available for a nominal add-on fee of $4++ and $8++, respectively.
THE MOST ILLUMINATING LUNCH SPOTS
Lunch is a particularly intriguing meal at these spots: a gourmet pleasure in their own right, they also offer a great way to “sample” the chef’s culinary vision and style so you know what to expect when you go there for dinner!
Birds of A Feather
8-year-old Birds of A Feather introduced its evolved culinary approach this year while keeping its core identity strong – Contemporary Cuisine with Sichuan influences: Head Chef Eugene See offers new East-meets-West creations rooted in his mastery of European culinary techniques and ever-growing knowledge of Sichuan food gathered from multiple trips to Chengdu. A new menu balances bold robust flavours with a repertoire of lighter and more nuanced creations. Consider their delightful Set Lunch, $33.90++ for 2 courses, which offers a generous selection of choices for both the starters and the main courses; this selection includes both new and classic Birds of A Feather dishes. For a taste of the new, our palates are particularly infatuated with the Ume Tomato starter – an appetite-rousing sweet-sour-savoury medley of vine-ripened Looye cherry tomatoes marinated with ume, paired with a refreshing housemade ume granita and sour jelly, then finished with a handful of salty-crunchy salicornia aka samphire.

YÀN
The Chinese character used for YÀN’s name can mean feast but can also mean banquet, and as its name indicates, a meal there is a feast for anyone who enjoys meticulously prepared, exquisitely presented Cantonese cuisine. Their daily Executive Set Lunch, $45++ per person, is a thoughtfully composed representation: five delicious bestsellers come together for a complete meal with both meat and vegetables as well as tender braised Ee Fu noodles and your choice of a soothing dessert. We love how the meal begins with a trio of Singapore’s most beloved Cantonese classic, dim sum, and how the choice of dessert offers both cold and warm desserts.
Esora
What better way to dip a toe into the addiction that is one-Michelin-starred modern Japanese kappo restaurant Esora? We say “dip a toe”, but their recently introduced Signature Feature Menu for lunch, $178++ per person, is seven glorious courses of carefully curated seasonal produce, conscientiously prepared to achieve a precise balance and harmony of flavours. The meal even begins with a complimentary glass of champagne – or sparkling tea, for teetotallers. Currently, the menu is an exploration of comforting autumn flavours: the artful hassun, which sets the theme, is especially memorable and seafood connoisseurs will thoroughly enjoy the prime catches of the season such as the deftly chargrilled kinmedai. At the end of the meal, you’ll step out with a new appreciation of Head Chef Araki’s talent and finesse – we promise!
